The transistor is the fundamental building block of modern electronic devices, and its presence is ubiquitous in modern electronic systems. It is undoubtedly the most widely used device in electronics, be it analog or digital. It is used as an amplifier, switch, diode, and capacitor in electronic circuits of all kinds, and this makes studies of transistors extremely important. Traditional methods of plotting this curve are tedious and time-consuming, and involve manual adjusting of parameters and taking readings.
This project is initiated with the aim to successfully plot the characteristic curve of various available two terminal and three terminal devices namely diode, transistors etc. The project explores ways by which a conventional microprocessor can be used as an interactive tool in order to implement a very fundamental aspect of learning electronics by characterizing basic building blocks of circuits and helping them realize the curve and plot it on their own PC.
